The “Neue Künstlerforum” emerged from the “Künstlerforum”, which was founded in 1972.
Since 1989 the association has been directed by Prof. Ernst Lintner.
In accordance with the statutes, we have developed into a genuine international artists’ and art forum, which has established and maintained contacts throughout Europe, the USA and Japan.
Many of today’s world-famous artists have performed with us while still students.
They have made a European and world career, partly as soloists and ensembles, for example Till Fellner (piano), Lilia Bayrova (cello), David Frühwirth (violin), the German clarinetist and composer Jörg Widmann, the Russian world violinist Maxim Vengerov, the Viennese ensembles “Jess Trio” and the “Flieder Trio”, as well as numerous young musicians who studied in Vienna and who are today members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna State and People’s Opera as well as orchestras throughout Europe! (e.g. Wolfgang Lintner, Raphael Flieder, Matthias Schorn, Patricia Hood-Koll, Ekaterina Frolova, etc.)
With this in mind, we have made every effort to make performances possible for young prize winners of national and international competitions (e.g. Fritz Kreisler– and Brahms Competition, Haydn Competition, etc.).
In recent years we have regularly organized world premieres and concerts of works by Austrian composers such as Peter Barcaba and Werner Pelinka, most recently in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons.
We do not receive any public funding.
Over the past 31 years, we have been able to organize again and again chamber music concerts at the highest level, involving young people and mostly with the participation of philharmonic ensembles, such as:
- from 1989 to 2003 in the Marmorsaal of Palais Schwarzenberg in Vienna.
- 2004 to 2015/16 in the Camineum of the Austrian National Library in Vienna
- 2016/17 and 2017/18 in the Eroica Saal at Palais Lobkowitz in Vienna, where Ludwig van Beethoven was a very frequent guest; Archduke Lobkowitz was one of his greatest patrons!
There, not only Beethoven’s 3rd Symphony, the “Eroica” (June 9, 1804), but also his 4th Piano Concerto (March 1804, soloist was still Beethoven), as well as his 5th Piano Concerto (January 13, 1804, soloist was the prince himself) were premiered, as well as the 1st song cycle in music history, “An die ferne Geliebte” (April 1816, where the prince himself is said to have sung).
